Our Story

The House of God Church began its journey on May 13, 2009, with humble beginnings in the homes of members, where they gathered for prayer and sharing the Word. As the fellowship grew, the church relocated to a meeting space on Dorcas Street in South Melbourne, utilizing an Anglican gathering hall. Rooted in the scripture from Isaiah 2:2, the church embraced the name "House of God," reflecting its mission and vision.

In pursuit of better accessibility for the Ethiopian and Eritrean community, the church later moved to Braybrook. This relocation marked a period of significant growth for the congregation. On South Road, the church celebrated its annual events, and Pastor Henok was formally appointed as the lead pastor during a special ceremony held at 501 Reception (Restaurant).

Over the years, the church's ministry continued to expand, leading to the need for a larger and more suitable space. In 2019, after nine years at its previous location, the church moved to a modern facility on Ashley Street, Braybrook. This move symbolized a new chapter for the House of God Church, bringing about structural and operational changes, including the adoption of a new constitution that aligned with contemporary needs.

The church celebrated its 10th anniversary with great joy, marking a decade of spiritual growth, community service, and unwavering commitment to its mission. Today, as the church approaches its 15th anniversary, it continues to serve as a vital spiritual home for many, with its history of faith, fellowship, and perseverance.

Through all its trials and triumphs, the House of God Church has remained steadfast in its mission to be a place where God's presence is felt, and His people are nurtured. As the church moves forward, it does so with gratitude to God for His guidance and with a renewed commitment to serving the community in love and truth.
